The criteria for this design was that it be large enough in scale to be readable at a distance from the community outside...as a "lantern of hope".
Also, the window faces West and so the control of direct light was very important. Opal transluscent glasses and deep colors hold back the light while keeping the interior space filled with light casting color on the floor and walls. Textured and opal glasses conceal the parking lot outside and create a feeling of privacy inside. Bevel glass and textured clear glass in the cross creates a brilliant light against the radiating beams and the uplifting movement of the white and red forms. These forms represent the Holy Spirit as represented in the "wind and the flame." The small prayer room is intended to be a quiet place where one may come to pray and be filled with a sense of the power and glory of God expressed in the beauty of colored glass.
